I've always found topics like this to be quite difficult to approach in a casual discussion. I can only imagine how much more difficult it might be to actually treat the subject in a 100+ page book. I can only imagine how much more difficult it might be to actually treat the subject in a 100+ page book. Much like seeing your father cry as a child, the image portrayed here doesn't exactly fit the mental pattern of what a man can/should do. The cultural biases and biological differences between men and women have creeped into our views of ourselves up to the point when we see all men being a prototypical Adam and all women a shard of the prototypical Eve. And whereas women have taken it upon themselves to shout left and right: 'emancipation', the men gave little thought to such an action. After all, advocating for the right to be a lesser son of Adam seems rather lazy and degrading rather than liberating. Not to mention as far from manliness as a man with implanted breasts. Nonetheless, we men still have our emotions, our psychological development paths that are more human like than man-like and, in the end, I have not seen a man to not bleed like anyone else when cut and to not cry like everyone else when hurt. That's what this book is all about: a man is first of all a human being, before being a cultural stereotype. If you are a woman reading this book, it may seem a little hard to digest the information at first, but keep going. None of it is bullshit and, even if not all men will recognize, it's good to have someone admit that we men also need some unconditional loving every now and then.
